What is a PGT test?

Preimplantation genetic testing (PGT) is a process to genetically test embryos created through in vitro fertilization (IVF) before they are transferred into the uterus.

PATIENT INFO:

How can PGT tests help me?

Preimplantation Genetic Testing (PGT) increases the likelihood of a successful In-Vitro Fertilization (IVF) by selectively choosing healthy embryos for IVF transfer that are free from certain genetic abnormalities. This leads to:

  • Improvement in pregnancy success rates through IVF1,2
  • Shorten time to pregnancy
  • Lower rate of miscarriages1,2
  • Promotes success in patients undergoing single – embryo transfer3
  • Increases the likelihood of having a healthy baby by reducing the risk of having a child with a chromosomal abnormality
  • May reduce the number of embryo transfers needed to achieve pregnancy, thereby saving time, money and the psychological consequences of unsuccessful embryo transfers and multiple miscarriages

IVF patients who may benefit from PGT include:

  • Patients with a history of repeated implantation failure
  • Patients with 1 or more miscarriages
  • Patients with previous pregnancies affected by chromosomal abnormalities
  • Patients with male factor infertility
  • Women 35 years of age and older

How can PGT tests help my patients?

Reprobiogen your partner to your clinic’s success

Prior to the availability of Preimplantation Genetic Tests (PGT), embryos were selected by morphology which was proven to be unsatisfactory and a poor predictor of a healthy embryo. To circumvent this situation physicians would often transfer several embryos looking for a successful pregnancy which would frequently give multiple pregnancies.

With the complete personalized preimplantation genetic services offered by Reprobiogen the physician and the patients will profit from:

  • New state of the art PGT procedures4
  • A higher percentage of embryos likely to achieve a healthy successful pregnancy.
  • A reduction of miscarriages rates.
  • An increase in implantation rates.
  • Lower risk of twin pregnancies.
  • The reduced potential of having children with intellectual and/or physical disabilities.
  • A clinic with more successful IVF cycles translates into more happy patients.
  • Personalized genetic counselling services to help physician overcome the pitfalls and challenges in genetics interpretation and provide accurate sensitive patient education5.
  • PGT enables couples who may be at risk of passing genetic conditions on to their children the opportunity of pursuing biological parenthood, which they may not have done otherwise.
  • Couples will feel more confident in going ahead with an IVF procedure knowing that preimplantation genetic tests will be performed decreasing the chances of having a sick child.
